Season Dates: The hunting dates for waterfowl change yearly and are set by Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW). Watch throughout the spring and summer for the publication of that year’s hunting pamphlets which can be found at the following website: https://wdfw.wa.gov/hunting/regulations/migratory-waterfowl-upland-game. Generally speaking, waterfowl seasons run from mid-October through the end of February, depending on the species.

Hunter Education & Licenses: In order to participate in a guided floating waterfowl hunt, you MUST have your hunter education card and applicable hunting licenses and stamps. If you are new to hunting and don’t have one, don’t sweat it, visit https://wdfw.wa.gov/hunting/requirements/education to find out times and locations for local hunter education classes. Classwork can be done online or in-person, however, all participants MUST complete a field skills test that is in-person. Spots tend to fill up as it gets closer to hunting season, so it is suggested that you complete this requirement well in advance of hunting season.

Booking Process: To book a trip with Olympia Outfitters, press any of the “Book Now!” buttons on the webpage to be directed to the Contact Us page. Fill out the online form, email, or call directly to schedule a time and discuss your trip specific needs. You will also be provided a liability waiver for you to print, sign, and bring with you to boat launch. To lock in your trip date, payment is required at completion of the booking process. Cancellations greater than 24hrs out from launch are subject to a cancellation fee of 20% of the trip payment. Cancellations within 24-12hrs are subject to a cancellation fee of 50% of the trip payment.

Day of the Float: Prior to your scheduled float, you will receive either a call, text, or email from our guide Colton. In this correspondence he will provide you details on when and where to meet up for the float. Times and location are not determined until closer to the day of the float to ensure the most opportunity for a successful day due to changing conditions. Come day of the float, Colton will meet you at the predesignated boat launch site where he will check your hunting licenses and ask for your liability waiver. In the unfortunate case where a hunter does not have the necessary hunting licenses or a signed liability waiver at time of launch, the participant can choose one of three options: continue their float without hunting, reschedule, or cancel their float. Floats rescheduled at the boat launch are subject to an additional rescheduling fee of 50% of the participant’s trip payment. Floats cancelled at the boat launch are subject to a cancellation fee of 75% of the trip payment.
